USA (DC) National Park Service - Experience Your America

Site gouvernemental National Park Service. Un réseau de près de 400 parcs naturels (natural parks), à vocation culturelle et récréationnelle à travers la nation américaine. Ce système de gestion - la première au monde - permet de préserver, protéger et partager les legs de ce pays. Par le décrêt du 1er mars 1872, le Congrès donne au Parc de Yellostone, situé dans les territoires du Montana et du Wyoming son statut de Parc Public ou Base de Loisirs au bénéfice de la population. La Fondation du Yellowtone National Park lance le mouvement mondial pour le concept de Parc National. De nos jours, plus de 100 nations protègent quelques 1.200 parcs ou réserves équivalentes.
Le National Park Service a été créé par une loi du Congrès des États-Unis signée par le Président Woodrow Wilson le 25 août 1916.  Les parcs nationaux américains recouvrent 391 régions sur près de 34 millions d’hectares dans tous les États (en dehors du Delaware), ainsi que dans le District of Columbia, les Samoas américaines, les îles de Guam, Porto Rico et les îles Vierges.
Ces régions comportent parcs nationaux, monuments, champs de bataille, parcs militaires, parcs historiques, sites historiques, rives de lacs, zones de loisirs, parcours découvertes sur rivières et sentiers de randonnées, ainsi que la Maison Blanche.

  • Fort Donelson National Battlefield Announces New Summer Programs - 29-05-2008
    Dover, TN?Superintendent Steven McCoy announced today a series of new summer programs at Fort Donelson National Battlefield. This year, visitors may enjoy programs at the historic Dover Hotel, the Common Soldier Living History Program, and a Ranger-led Auto Caravan Tour, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

  • Musket School - 01-05-2008
    Dover, Tennessee?The Fort Donelson National Battlefield Ranger staff is recruiting volunteers to participate in the 2008 Summer Historic Musket Firing Demonstrations. The Musket Firing programs are very popular at Civil War battlefield sites across the country. Fort Donelson NB needs volunteer participants to create a new, expanded program.


  • Civil War Army-Navy Exhibit on display July 4-6, 2008 - 10-05-2008
    Dover, Tennessee?Collectors and amateur historians alike will enjoy a weekend of Civil War naval and army artifacts and replica gunboats. The Army-Navy Exhibit returns to Fort Donelson National Battlefield, July 4-6, 2008. Although the exhibit has been returning to the park every year since 2002, visitors will see a few changes.

  • Junior Ranger Weekend - 01-05-2008
    Dover, Tennessee?Children and families can enjoy a special weekend filled with activities at Fort Donelson National Battlefield on June 7 and 8, 2008. Family hikes, Civil War music, and art programs will be offered for Junior Ranger Weekend, Saturday, and Sunday, June 7 & 8, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm each day.

  • New Park Signage planned for Fort Donelson NB - 01-05-2008
    Park visitors will see new additions to Fort Donelson National Battlefield in the next several weeks. New signage will be placed at both Forts Donelson and Heiman, along with new gates to provide additional park security.
